am an artist named Matthew Morrison yet the blog and facebook page honor my family. Like most artist, I have a strong love of Texas as it is possibly the most inspiring state. It is a state of mind and close to spiritual experience. (Most Texian clam some form of Christianity.) My studio is decorated with two Texas flags, a map of Texas, and a Texas license plate, cookie cutter and most importantly Lone Star belt buckle. I think I would give anything to smell some blue bonnets. Texas is connected to art because Texas itself is an art and expression. Texas can also sustain a strong art community becous of beef and oil. The “Inspiration for Creativity” in Apologetics is changed for Texans as “ God gives us trouble for us to write Country Music, because He loves it.” And like the ideal artist, there is an independent spirit to Texas. But, Texas is an unpretentious like modern art. It is real in Texas. As Texas is part of the South, as the South is a Francophone, there is a conundrum as most are familiar with the imagined Parisian Snobbery, but French when you get to know them are just like Texans. (France is about the same size as Texas and a dialect of French—Cajun-- is spoken in East Texas.) It should be noted I was born in Texas.
I
In attempting to draw some mythos of the states, it for me
was simple as I owned most of the stuff. The flag is actually the Zavalla Flag.
(TEXAS is spelled around the star that everything is sitting on.)It was problem
never actually officially used though it was the first official flag of the
Republic of Texas designed by the first Vice-President of the republic of Texas
Lorenzo de Zavalla. There is also the Colt revolver. While Texas is possibly
the easiest place to buy a gun, that revolver is significant to Texas as it was
made special for the Texas Rangers by Samuel Colt. Colts to Texas are the same
to Texas as Bowie Knives are to Arkansas. Everything else is self explanatory
with the exception that those are supposed to be Bluebonnets in the vase. I actually drew this picture over a year ago.
One of
Texas’ greatest minorities is Tejano. The Native Hispanics of Texas have a very
unique acknowledgement as they get confused with Mexicans with whom Texans do
not traditionally associate. However, Tejanos created Texas culture with the
Ranch, Cowboy, and Rodeo. (Rodeo is Tejano Bull fighting) Tejanos made up two
Calvary corps. to aid for the Texas Rebels in the Texas Revolution, for the
Confederacy in the American Civil war, and for the Mexico when they were
invaded by France.
